Is this rabbit wearing stripes?

The attached photo of this rabbit is the second sighting in my neighborhood. (I managed to get a picture this time, but the sun had nearly set so it's not the best quality and the stripes are not as defined as they appear in brighter light.)

Since I've never seen a rabbit with this sort of coloring, I'm wondering if this is unusual.

I have never seen anything like it. As far as I know this is really unusual. It does bring up questions.

Anyone else seen anything like this?

It's not rare

That rabbit is probably Harlequin. You could have looked it up on Google. Rabbits that have broad stripes are normally Harlequins. Oh, and it's probably a girl. You can tell by the double chin.

I did a search on Google and only found references to striped rabbits in certain areas of Asia and they looked like something abnormal and possibly a hoax. as of April 12, 2012, I found the photos have been updated and are more realistic and plausible.

As far as I know, the Harlequin is a domestic rabbit common in France as well as listed and shown in ARBA shows here in the USA.

Thanks for letting us know this type of striped rabbit is not uncommon.

yes it is not that rare actually.

Thank you. It is good to have more than one individual verify these rabbits.
